It’s a sad fact that, even with the Great Recession behind us, lots of Connecticut families struggle to put food on the table every day—never mind providing a Thanksgiving feast. Almost 1/5 of the kids in our state are in households that are “food insecure”—in other words, their parents are having to make choices about feeding their kids or paying other expenses like rent, utilities, or transportation. And more than 432,000 households of our Connecticut neighbors rely on food stamps.

The Goal: to make sure that everyone in our communities sits down to a bountiful feast on Thanksgiving Day.
The Team:  Liberty Bank, the Liberty Bank Foundation, 41 Rotary Clubs — and YOU!
How It Works: Right after Columbus Day, our Liberty branches and Rotary partners start raising money for Thanksgiving food. Our foundation kicks in an additional 25 cents for every dollar raised — and our Rotary friends distribute the funds to local agencies that give Thanksgiving baskets to families in their towns.
