Patrol bicycles used by the Naugatuck Police force had become timeworn and out-of-date. A personal note from Patrolman Otis Baskins to local Liberty Branch Manager Sandra Vaz requested a small donation to assist in acquiring a new one. Well, the foundation was pleased to chip in a whole new bike!
Baskins explained the importance of bike patrols — “to encourage officers to get out of the patrol vehicle and interact with citizens.” His note added, “Our officers generally ride anywhere between ten and twenty-five miles per shift. The equipment affiliated with the mountain bicycle division has become outdated and unreliable due to the excessive wear and tear.”
On hand for the presentation are Liberty Bankers (l to r): Minnie Saleh, Retail Banking Division Executive; Chandler Howard, President and CEO; Sonia Myers, Regional Market Manager; [Baskins]; Sandra Vaz, Church Street Branch Manager; and Jim Mengacci, Liberty Bank Foundation Board Member.
