Every month Liberty Bank chooses one of its many volunteers and allows them to make a $250 donation to the nonprofit of their choice. Robin Fujio, Banking Services and Operations manager, chose a group near and dear to her and her son’s hearts — Skills USA. The group is a partnership of students, teachers and industry representatives, working together to ensure America has a skilled workforce.
Brayden, Robin’s son, is a recent grad of Vinal Tech and was involved with Skills programming for four years. His mom was a volunteer.
Robin reports, “My son was the vice president of the Connecticut chapter. He competed in business skills demonstration (job interviewing), resume writing and public speaking. He graduated from the IST Shop at Vinal and is currently at Middlesex Community College where he will major in criminal justice with an IT emphasis.”
The group was delighted to receive the support. Pictured (from l to r) are: Robin; Kyle Leupold, chapter president; and Suzanne Niemiec, guidance counselor and coordinator of Vinal Tech’s participation in Skills USA.
