Although this is a time of great uncertainty for many families in our state and across the country, organizations in New Haven are ensuring that children and youth from low-income neighborhoods across the city have access to quality summer programming – virtually! LEAP, Concepts for Adaptive Learning, and New Haven Reads are just a few of the organizations that will be offering virtual learning and fun for youth.
LEAP will run a four-week literacy-focused free summer camp for over 350 children and teens starting in early July. Small groups will rotate weekly between an online program and an in-person program, with all in-person activities held outdoors. Concepts for Adaptive Learning will also be offering programming online to serve teens, and New Haven Reads will not be missing a beat as it continues to offer its valuable literacy programming to young children online.
Organizations like these are stepping up to the plate, acknowledging the fact that these summer activities are critical for targeting summer learning loss, enrichment, and a resource for working parents. We’re proud to have them as our partners!
