Sydney Tabor, a senior at Waterford High School, has won the 2018 Donald B. Wilbur Scholarship. She competed against 31 other Connecticut students who aspire to STEM careers. Judging was based on financial need, career choice, academic achievement, and community involvement, and the winner was selected by former Liberty Bank Chairman of the Board Donald Wilbur.
Tabor has been honored by the US Congress, is a member of the National Honor Society, and amassed 400 hours of community service during her high school career. One of her nominators noted, “Sydney will continue to serve as a leader and role model. She is an exceptional young lady who will most certainly make this world a better place through her passion, commitment, and fortitude.”
Tabor is off to Western New England College in the fall where she plans to study for a career in medical science.
