Most of us would agree that economic success is something that should be achievable by anyone willing to work for it. The Urban League of Greater Hartford believes in putting that idea into action–and that’s why we’re so proud to have provided a $20,000 grant to support their Financial Opportunity Center (FOC).
The FOC is home to Project STABLE, the League’s economic enrichment program that provides an integrated, bundled approach to deliver industry-specific training, employment services, financial counseling, and coaching, and connections to income supports for qualifying adults, primarily minority, low-to-moderate income Greater Hartford residents.
The Center helps participants secure sustainable wage employment, develop a career in a growth industry, learn how to manage personal finances, improve credit, secure income supports to address immediate needs, and build financial assets such as savings and affordable homeownership. It’s a one-stop shop where people can find the knowledge and support they need to take control of their financial futures–people like Natasha Harris and her daughter Kara, pictured above.
