Liberty Bank once again held its June-long âLiberty Lends a Handâ campaign, which encourages all employees to do good works in their communities. Employees can take part in two ways: by forming teams and volunteering at a local nonprofit and/or by collecting goods for charities.
âWe never forget that we are first and foremost a community bank,â said President & CEO Chandler J. Howard, Liberty Bank. âPutting our hands to work is one more way we can help bring vitality to our Connecticut towns and cities.â
All across the bankâs market area, 182 employees pitched in at 21 nonprofits, contributing 958 hours of service. Another 66 organizations benefited from more than 9,300 items collected at all 55 branches and main-office departments.
âService to others, both professionally and through volunteerism, is one of our core values,â said Howard. âIâm proud that our employees truly take this to heart and come through for their neighbors in a big way.â
Employees provided services such as painting, gardening, carpentry, event support, furniture moving, community outreach, and spring cleaning.
Items collected ranged from nonperishable food, pet supplies, toiletries, toys, and diapers for agencies such as: the Amazing Grace Food Pantry, the Womenâs Veteran Outreach Committee, Columbus House, the Salvation Army, Safe Haven of Greater Waterbury, LISA, Inc., the Habitat for Humanity Restore and the Humane Society.
âEven though we go all out in June,â said Howard, âour commitment to communities continues year-round,â said Howard.
