Eighteen years of love. That’s what Leigh Duffy of the Windham Regional No Freeze Center has poured into her heartfelt work with the homelessness. At this year’s Reaching Home Housing Awards, put on by the Partnership for Strong Communities, Leigh was honored with the Rev. Richard Schuster Advocacy Award.
In giving the award, Liberty Bank Foundation Executive Director, Sue Murphy said, “Leigh is a terrific leader, and she’s been vital to building the northeast coordinated access network and getting buy-in to the system changes that have taken place over the past few years. More important, she’s also a wonderful human being. We all know the stigma that goes along with homelessness. It can be dehumanizing. Leigh never fails to see and love the humanity of the people she strives to help. She believes down in her soul ‘there but for the grace of God go I.’”
Congratulations, Leigh! Well deserved.
