With affordable housing still lacking in the state, an upcoming IForum (hosted by the Partnership for Strong Communities) will explore the opportunity presented by the Northeast’s abundance of multifamily homes.
Visit most any larger city in Connecticut and you’ll find two- and three-story homes in densely populated, older neighborhoods. These were a staple of housing in decades past. While many of these structures are currently in disrepair, their rehabilitation can create more affordable housing options for the many housing-cost-burdened residents in the state.
On March 27, the Partnership’s IForum panel discussion will address “middle housing,” with a focus on rehabilitation and expansion of existing stock, including design and planning of such projects, as well as policy considerations.
