Our partnerships with The Great Give in New Haven and Give Local in Greater Waterbury have given a terrific boost to several nonprofits working in the Foundation’s priority areas of education and housing.
In New Haven and the lower Naugatuck Valley, The Great Give will distribute a record total of $1.4 million, thanks to 8,130 donors who made more than 11,600 gifts from May 3-5. The Liberty Bank Foundation Housing Prize of $3,000 was won by Neighborhood Housing Services of New Haven, which received the most individual donations between the hours of 9-10 a.m. on May 4. In the lower Naugatuck Valley, TEAM, Inc. took the $2,000 Liberty Bank Foundation Basic Human Needs Prize.
Give Local Waterbury and Litchfield Hills shattered its own fundraising record with $1.2 million raised from 6,900 donations over the 3-day period. The $500 Liberty Bank Power Lunch for Waterbury Prize went to Shakesperience Productions, Inc.; in Naugatuck, the $500 prize went to Naugatuck Youth Services. Both agencies won by raising the most dollars in their towns between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. on May 4.
Liberty was a winner as well. Most of the agencies eligible for our prizes promoted them extensively to their supporters via repeated emails and social media posts, urging donors to give during the designated timeslots so their agency could take advantage of the prize dollars.
